Château Léognan

Domaine de Chevalier

L'Esprit de Chevalier Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Another great 2nd. Rich and dark in the glass, the nose is fresh but earthy with floral notes, coffee and dark fruit. Palate evolves over a couple of hours, opening into a great blend of stewed fruit, spice, almond, sour cherries and baking spice. Tannins are firm but acidity is in check and there is a nice medium length finish which has a little tart sweetness. Very enjoyable and plenty of unexpected complexity. — 8 days ago

Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2001

— 7 days ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

Outstanding showing for a 2nd wine in a classic vintage. Red fruit and red flowers, cedar and cigar notes led a pure and concentrated beam of blueberry and multiple red fruit notes with some vanilla and black currant. Feminine, elegant. Fine tannins disappeared on long finish. — 8 days ago

Château Olivier

Pessac-Léognan Blanc White Bordeaux Blend 2014

Grass flavor. Green apple with Lemon? Comfortable acidity. Still fresh. Picking it up from refrigerator, temperature is too low to enjoy it. Then I could feel rich feeling on suitable temperature, by 6 years aging. It is getting better over time, one hour, aroma is quite better with nuts flavor. 2014 @1200, Fwine - XH, 201019-201024 — 7 days ago

Château La Tour Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2001

Decanted for an hour. Dusty Dark garnet center, pale brown meniscus, medium viscosity. On the nose, inviting ripe red and black fruits - cassis, strawberries that are still very much present, licorice, tobacco, tar and wet clay/gravel. On the palate, silky luscious mouthfeel with resolved tannins and in the just the right balance with Acidity. Decent finish, but left me wanting more.. Dry wine, medium acidity, medium tannins, medium alcohol and medium plus body. This cuvée was 85% Cab Sauv 15% merlot. Second label of the famous La Mission Haut-Brion. — 23 minutes ago

— 7 days ago

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1959

Tasted blind, from two combined bottles. Dark reddish amber rims with a more dark reddish tawny center. Obvious nose says we are in old world Bordeaux and brings smiles. Notes of black cherry, cigar box, dirt barn floor, gravel, tobacco leaf, old leather saddle. Long finish. The guesses focus on 40s/50s/60s Bordeaux. The experience is similar to a bottle of 59 Haut Brion I opened only a couple of weeks ago, so I am in Graves and the debate narrows to 59 vs 61. Would Stan open 2 bottles of 59 HB for the team? Yes he would! I go with the similarities I’m getting with my recent bottle of this and nail my guess. — a month ago
