Bric dël Fiasc Barolo Nebbiolo 2004

The very first Italian wine coming close to Napa perfumed wine. However tasting reveals the true age of this overperforming 04 Barolo. Highly recommended. — a day ago

Cannubi Barolo Nebbiolo 2014

The 4th wine at the Downs Club Italian Dinner. Brief notes - from the cool wet 2014 vintage in Barolo, saved somewhat by the terroir of the famous Cannubi vineyard. Planted 1946. Not your normal high acid, high tannin Barolo. Menthol/camphor notes, herbal, red fruited, very savoury dry tannins. — a month ago

Riserva Pipparello Montefalco Rosso Sangiovese Blend 2008

Absolutely awesome on the pop and pour and just built up steam from there. The 2008 “Pipparello” is looking youthful at 14 years with a deep garnet color and opaque core. Loads of sediment though. On the nose, notes of dark cherry cordial, salmiakki, and fennel. The nose is ever so slightly volatile but not expecting a little of that from Bea would be unrealistic. On the palate, red bramble and blackberry preserves and all the near eastern spices you could want. Medium+ across the board; tannin, acid and alcohol. Incredible finish that is dry and lasts forever. As ever with the wines of Paolo and Giampiero; this is a wine with so much soul. In a fabulous place right now but will drink well through 2032. Bottle No. 3016/6633. — a month ago

Corte di Giso Irpinia Falanghina 2020

Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits and floral notes. On the palate flavors of apple, pear and melon, slight honeysuckle and citrus notes with lively acidity. Medium acidity, medium+ finish ending with fruit and floral mineral character. — 2 days ago

Lapideus Umbria Bianco Trebbiano 2017

2017. We passed on dessert to have another wine with a cheese plate. Maybe not as complex as other Bea skin contact wines I’ve had, but that may have been a good thing at this point in our meal. We all enjoyed it! — a month ago
