Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2021 pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of Luxardo cherry, strawberry, red roses, crazy sun-Alpine herbs, and exotic spices, porchini, the powdered cheese packet from Kraft, mac & cheese, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose (save for the mac & cheese packet, lol). The finish is long, elegant and saline. Furthermore, the wine seems to gain body and weight with air. This might be the best Monvigliero I’ve had from Paolo Scavino. Drink now through 2051+.
