Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Pinot Noir 2016

Pop and pour. Austere at opening. Better with a couple of hours of air and lots of swirling. On the nose: baking spice, black cherry, soft rose and some soft green stemmy notes. On the palate: excellent acidity, soft mouthfeel, black cherry, a touch of woody bitterness and soft very finely grained tannin on the finish. Hasn't evolved much over the last 3 years...but not sure it has the fruit/acid/tannin balance to improve in a good direction. — 15 days ago

The nose is half chalk half lemon. I love it and it's really a terroir thing. The palate is a Sauvignon they had been dripped in coton and chalk (if there's a way to taste chalk). There's some width, there's lemon all along, and there's a finish that's rather long with the same notes hanging up there for quite a while. You gotta love that

One of the best values in Burgundy. Producer and estate. Such a gorgeous nose. Big sappy red fruits, elegant spices and cooling minerals. Huge cherry explosion. Real depth here and such vivid aromatic details. So pretty. Wow, 19 is the bomb! Palate is so juicy and so pure. Okay, my man has taken the leap. The balance here is extraordinary. So clean and balanced. Startling purity. This is blowing my mind. Such supple texture. So silken and sweet. Crystalline levels of purity here. Almost a 9.3 and could be with air. Just needs to flesh out a bit. But it’s all there.

After much air this is super floral and just lovely. Stunning fruit. So pretty. Still keeping at 9.2. My initial assessment was correct.

Nose is insane. So grapey. Leaps from the glass. Like hand crushed fresh grapes.

Palate is so fresh and juicy and delicious. A hint of licorice. Powerful cherry with a whisper of blackberry.

This is really awesome. First, lemon cream and kiwi on the nose. The palate is linear at first but builds in volume. A quinine-like bitterness provides the bass note and the perception of sweetness and long acids play so well on top. Such precision.
