Castello di Ama

Chianti Classico Ama 2016

Crisp, bright, fresh fruit of the red persuasion. Nothing too overly complicated, in fact missing a tad of the leather and tabacco you’d expect in a CC. But it’s all so pretty and food friendly (in this case with pasta and wild boar ragù). — 5 months ago

Quinta da Cavadinha Vintage Port Blend 2003

Vintage 2001 | dark colour, frivolous smell: raisins, red fruit, hints of Scottish pipetobacco. A taste with chocolade impressions. A treat. | night cap with wild boar pate. — 3 days ago

Palazzone

Terre Vineate Orviéto Classico Superioré Trebbiano Blend 2017

A very nice Orvieto. Light & bright at first, nice finish, went well with rich cheeses and Genoa samlami. Makes me remember wild boar ragu — drank after left out of refrigerator for 1 hour. — 5 months ago

Cascina I Carpini

Piemonte Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Loved this Piedmont Cabernet Sauvignon. Vineyard owner actually planted the varietal on the edges of their vineyard to keep wild boar (due to Cab Sauv grapes being so sour) away from their high volume Barbera vines. Happy accident or not, this wine is terrific! Opulent dark fruits with vanilla and black licorice aromas and flavors. Perfectly balanced acidity and smooth tannins. Obscure wine. Great find! — 6 months ago
