Juniper Crossing Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2017

Bought this as an afterthought and quite pleased that I did. It's complex and rich, with blackcurrant/plum fruit, cedary oak and soft tannins all on the same page. Great value. — 5 years ago

Really great drinking wine. Would be good with good but wouldn’t completely stand up to bigger reds. — 8 years ago

Westside Crossing

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Medium ruby color. Aromas of cherry, cranberry and rose petals. Very good Pinot overall, red fruit on the palate, baking spice and black tea.

Winemakers' Cellar Dry Creek Valley Chardonnay 2018

First thing: much earthier than I anticipated. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of ripe fruit: lemon 🍋, pineapple 🍍, and apricot 🍑. But before the fruit, there’s smoky minerality 💨 and dried thyme 🌱 followed by hazelnut. 🌰

Kanonkop Estate

Simonsberg Stellenbosch Pinotage 2010

Kanonkop knows Pinotage and they are experts at creating a Pinotage that can age for 20-30 years. You wouldn’t necessarily expect that for a grape that is a a crossing between a Pinot Noir and a Hermitage (an old name for Cinsault). This one was 13 years old and we still had to tame it down when it came out of the bottle. After about an hour of decanting the oak flavors of rich cigar and leather had well integrated with the earthy dark red, almost jammy, fruit. A full bodied, complex wine with lingering finish was created that disappeared way too fast. Follow us on www.spokenwines.com with an upcoming story about a winery that uses the Pinotage grape to make very unique rose that is out of this world. — 2 years ago

Chenoweth Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

Very delicious and multi dimensional chardonnay. Croissant, pineapple, pear, marshmallow, and lemon. Good acidity too. You have to like Chardonnay to like this wine. Not for the ABC crowd. — 5 years ago

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2014

Sette Ponti or "seven bridges," refers to the 7 bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in new French oak. Went to a tasting, had ‘14 & ‘15 side by side. Very dark enticing red with concentrated aromas of dark fruits & earthy notes. Flavors of cherry & plum with tobacco and spice. Firm but approachable tannins, medium length ending with a bit of spice as the finish builds. Best to drink ‘14 now. Tasting Sample. — 8 years ago
