Atlas Peak

Pol Roger

Sir Winston Churchill Brut Champagne 1995

Deep medium gold color. Great nose. Notes of biscuits, kiwi fruit, apple cider and citrus fruit. Nicely integrated fruit and structure in the mouth. With air this really blossomed. At peak and ready to go. Not as good as the 96 tonight though. — 10 days ago

Le Peu Morier Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2013

Very complex nose with aromas of bees wax, yellow apples, dried stone fruit and lemon. Sharp acidity on the palate, but the fruit is a bit thin. Just a bit past peak. — 5 days ago

King Family Vineyards

Monticello Petit Verdot 2010

King = Klass!! Quality fruit from a overly hot vintage tests the best winemakers. This is such a scenario as PV with too much potential alcohol & tannin can overwhelm the inherent acid phenolics over extended cellar aging. Thus, this was at post peak performance at 11+ years from harvest. The quality of Matthieu’s work is, nevertheless, can clearly be appreciated here: blackberry & blueberry compote with delicious toasty herbs. So fun to test the limits and enjoy a LONG PV finish! — a day ago

Eagle Peak Pinot Noir

Punches well above its weight…red fruit aromatics and palate with density and heft that makes this feel like a Friday night wine — 8 days ago

Viognier

A nice refreshing Viognier to go with an oncoming storm. Got a picture of the Atlas V this morning from my backyard taking off from the Space Coast. Pretty cool. — 6 days ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Dark ruby center with lighter tawny rims. Not quite opaque. Nose is quiet at first and doesn't bloom until 3+ hours in a decanter. Notes of dark fruit, tobacco, leather saddle, barnyard ground, some stones and minerals, brush-like spice and some mocha. Seductive in the mouth. Great balance between very present fruit with good structure and softened tannins. Haven't had this in awhile, and this wine still is hitting it out of the park. At peak but it'll be around for the long haul. Started out second to the 94 Dominus and then took the race by a nose in the stretch. — 3 days ago
