Ataraxia

Earthborn Hemel-en-Aarde Chardonnay 2020

04.14.24 - special wine. Lemons curd, seamless, creamy, rich, & round but driven with plenty of acidity. An intriguing pithiness, almost grapey minerality streak throughout. Too often wines are compared with Grand Cru Burgundy, but this delivers and belongs in the conversation as one of the great Chardonnays in the world. — 4 days ago

Chardonnay 2014

Jimmy Smith
9.0

2014: lovely delicacy, and harmony on the nose. Lightly creamy, floral, gentle Apple. Very elegant, harmonious style, with a lightly savoury finish (right on the end) good fruit, not an amazingly complex style, but very well poised. — 9 years ago

@Delectable Wine this is the 2017 Ataraxia Cape Winemakers Guild Under the Gravel Chardonnay.

Our first time every at the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and we will make sure to come back! (Tasting was on 9/28/18).

Tenth wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and eighth still white wine. This is made up of 100% Chardonnay by Kevin Grant from the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge region. Very light pale greenish yellow. Fresh and elegant nose with white blossoms, honeysuckle and citrus. Medium plus acidity (7/10) with a light plus body. Crisp and clean on the palate with tons of minerality, green apples and a little floral. Long finish. Drink from 2019 till 2027.
