Domaine Henri Boillot

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2014

2014 vintage. Decanted. Yes, decanted. Let this warm up a tad from the 39 degree storage. Ridiculous lemon curd, orange peel, "minerality" and just ripened Anjou pear hither and fro. Tasted 1.25 hours after decanting and slowly warming up (tasted at approx 64 degrees). Rocking now and in the zone for the next 4-5 years without difficulties/speedbumps. Phenomenal. 7.5.24. — 23 days ago

Quite intense. Very purple fruit. Noticeable oak. Still primary. I suspect needs time — a month ago

Domaine des Héritiers Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2020

Delectable Wine
9.3

The 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru doesn't possess the delineation and panache of Tollot-Beaut's on the nose at first, though it coheres nicely with aeration. Peach skin, linseed and wilted white flowers eventually come through. The palate is well-balanced with a viscous entry, a little more honeyed in style than previous wines in this flight of Corton-Charlemagne, though it deserves applause for the precision and detail on the finish. It needs a little more time in the bottle compared to others because there is a lot of coconut-ty new oak. My score is based on this being assimilated with bottle age. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2024)

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2014

What an incredible nose. Lifted limestone and lime with pear and a salinity. The slightly oily texture of CC but sophisticated and powerful and lifted. Still a baby but really delicious now. A monster, but a beautiful silky monster. Wow — 2 months ago
