Abruzzi, Italy

Azienda Agricola Valentini

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 2009

Finesse, delicacy, complexity and focus
Quince, cedar and thyme tea
White pepper, almond spread and white choc
A field of flowers(mainly yellow)
Lemon curds, dill, breadcrumbs and more and more
Seaweed and strongly marine
Whispered rather than shouted class
Every swirl is a discovery, a subtle win of aromas
Toffees and cappuccino coming out of the glass with the rising temperature
It goes without saying the fun
So long aftertaste
12% in alcohol
This is the gotha of the Italian white wines
Still decades ahead i am sure
It could easily rank a Grand Cru status
Grab it if you can..and then age it

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2011

5 years after the first time I had this and basically the tasting notes are the same. Stands up really nicely! Lush dark fruits with good oakiness. — 5 days ago

Inferi Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2017

Much like the ‘16 I had a while back, the same flavor profile. Ripe black cherry and has the color to match. Chocolate, cocoa. It’s to hot but a giant plate of pasta would be really good right now. — 23 days ago

Love that color.

Monolith Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2018

A Monument to one of Italy’s excellent wines. Deep ruby color, with intense cherry and anise flavors. The finish is smooth, rich and elegant with a suggestion of tannins. — 8 days ago

Fara Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

Solid. A bit smokey. Medium tannins. Opens up after 30 minutes. — 7 days ago

Le Cince Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Superiore

Bellísimo. To my chagrin, not Cerasuola the Sicilian blend but Cerasuola d’Abruzzo (Montepeluciano). Still - rusty red, fruit punch jolly rancher with herbs and lot of effervescence. Like the native yeast here. Another out of mold rose. Enjoying end of summer at in laws pool with Farottos. — 7 days ago
