Well...I must say that this was one of the more surprising wines I’ve had in a while. Picked up from the bargain-bin at the local Hy-Vee for $9. After opening, it was a bit tedious and, to be honest, I didn’t think it was going to come around. We didn’t finish the bottle so just stuffed the cork back in the bottle and stuck it in the basement. The next day, I wasn’t particularly excited to revisit the bottle but I’m so pleased that I did. Cassis, tobacco, baking spices, leather, and graphite on the nose. Cassis, dark cherry and earth on the palate. The structure propped it all up very well. Long-ish finish...I just didn’t expect this from a 7 year-old grocery store wine. Good with food or on its own. Should last until 2021.

This smells like oak. A lot of oak. An abundance of oak. It's also got dark fruit to it, some strong cassis and licorice flavor and high alcohol. Spicy and bold, but not too complex. This is what you get when you need something with pizza and don't want to think about it too much.

16/20 (90/100

Аромат красивый, пряно-ягодный, много сладких пряностей, корицы, мускатного ореха, черных сладких ягод, вяленой смородины, черничного джема, корицы, кардамона. Очень полный вкус, насыщенно, структурированно, очень хорошо.

Cheap. Bold. Not bad. Would pair well with steak.

Velvety red nose to it. Getting cherry and blackberry skins. Dark red purple color to it. On first sip, okay, with black currants and dried apricots. Medium tannins to it. Sour on the end. Not crazy about it.

Tasted this about a year ago so I think it’s time to check in to see how it develops after a year.
Stay pretty much the same. Cassis, raspberry, black cherry, steeped black tea, light peppery spices. Vanilla has faded further. Medium body. Lively palate with cool acidity.
Remarkable freshness at this age for a cab that cost around $15.
