Val di Suga (Angelini)
Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese
From 3 vineyards, medium Ruby with berry fruit, fragrant spice and earthy floral notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry, and licorice with notes of herb pepper spice and nice tangy mineral feel. Fine tannins, long finish ending with tobacco and cacao wrapped in an earthy spice character. Starting to drink well now, good for another decade.

May 21st, 2024Poured into an Amadeo decanter about 30min prior to service. The 2018 Val di Suga BdM “classico” is a combination of fruits sourced from the estates three vineyards: Vigna del Lago; Vigna Spuntali and Poggio al Granchio. The wine pours a deep ruby with a near opaque, transparent core and a watery rim. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, teh wine is developing with morello cherry, carnations, dusty earth, orange pith and leather. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and drying. This was my second time drinking the classico and I’m quite keen to try some of the single vineyard expressions in the future. Drink now with a short decant or through 2033

Dec 25th, 2023Way too many options to tag this wine.
This needed a day to open up. Delicate and soft Sangiovese with refined structure. My preference over the Pieve Santa Restituta.
Really pretty. BYO at Lucali for the second time in two months.

A very nicely packed and stacked Brunello, give it at least another year worth a pt or 2.

Oct 22nd, 20212015? It’s like driving a Ferrari in a school zone.
Honestly... there should be a law about selling Italian wine before they are ready to drink.
This is fantastic... but should be ready for Leon’s 19th.

Needed a ton of time to open up. Once it did it was pretty good, that being said, I preferred other #Brunello to this one.
