Spuntali Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2012

More brick hues; robust and delicate nose of asphalt, diesel hints, white flowers and citrus; nice round tannins, medium acids and alcohol, dark fruits, and a miles-long finish. Small production in the south, single cru Spuntali also made in large botti. — a month ago

Val di Suga Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2007

Unclear why I never rated this one, but even more than a month the ago,I can recall this 2007 Brunello galloping into it's prime, like an earthy, tobacco-ey stallion, with elegant dark fruits and oh so velvety tannins. #CumQuibus #SanGimignano — 2 years ago

Vigna del Lago Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

Shy, a bit coarse and surging with minerality. Very cool site characteristics, even in this rather warm vintage. Most austere of the three crus for sure. — 5 months ago

Vigna Spuntali Sangiovese 1997

So nice, lighter in composition but with a marvelous finish. These older wines with good balance just drink so well. — 3 years ago

Poggio Al Granchio Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

This one is a bit more generous with fruit and shows a slightly broader mid palate than the more northern cru. Still very nervy and tight with screeching acidity. Love the intensity, but wouldn’t dare open this for another 5 years. — 5 months ago

Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

Vintage 2010 / Way too young! I opened it on thursday evening and now half bottle (with pulltex anti oxydation stop) is showing a bit of its qualities. Half transparant with a rim of Italian tiles brown. Very classic smell with cedar, impression of chocolate. Flint. Mushrooms. Alive and kicking taste with red fruit, good acidity. Vibrant. How will this #brunellodimontalcino perform in future. I think i will not open a bottle in the next 3 to 5 years. Paired with Dutch Boerenkoolstamppot (cabbage with smashed potatoes) and Ezeltje (beef). — 8 months ago
