Wonderfully fragrant & totally delicious. The #wine is by Alex Davis, owner & #vigneron at #portercreek. This 2002 comes from #vines his father planted in the late 70's. Not one the fat, syrupy #wines coming out of the #RussianRiverValley. NOPE! This is electric with life, earthy, & perfect #pinot for #truffles! With #ABV at just 13.4%, the is #pinotnoir that #IPOB denizens should enjoy!

And then we moved to California. Our first night we were led into Alex's cellar where he pulled out one of his '97 Pinot Noirs and it was a very warm welcome into California wine country. My eyes and taste buds have opened my prejudices.

I’ve been holding onto this bottle for awhile and I’m glad I did. More Burgundian than most Cali pinots. Silky, elegant, and refined. Crushed flowers, cranberries, and hints of spice. Beautifully integrated on the palate. Excellent wine.
