Ruby, tawny coloration with some translucency. On the nose, cherry, strawberry, anise and minerals. On the palate, cherry, strawberry, cola, chocolate with a longish finish. Rather lighter and fruitier than expected. $48 at B-21.

Pure cherry candy upon opening. Figured I would have to air this one out a bit. In its adolescence. More herbs and roses start to peek out. Still a boatload of tannins.

Takes 2+ hours to open up. Dry and quite tannic with very restrained red fruits and an acidic spicy finish. With mango chutney encrusted salmon, potatoes, zucchini, morel mushrooms, and kalamata olives. It’s a very refined and elegant wine, but not my favorite style.
