Typical Le Moine, a bit old style, full extraction, fwd fruit.

This is a great charmes. Very often disappointed in this vinyard as I think most of it should not be grand cru. This wine has a beautiful nose, full fruit a bit austere. Le Moine as usual a great job.

Deep dark scarlet, almost opaque. Ripe bing cherries in the nose, with rhubarb, spice, wood and wet soil notes. Still very primary in the mouth, with a nice core of fruit. Good backbone and finish. Has great balance. Needs time.

As the 2002 Lucien le Moine Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru develops in the glass it starts off with more classic notes of forest brambles, freshly turned tilth, dried rose petals and red fruit. The impression evolves, however, to darker black cherries and even a whiff of dark chocolate powder. On the palate, tart, high-toned red forest berries, dried cranberry and spice, along with an iron-tinged, metallic finish. My only criticism of this wine is that it falls short on the finish, that metallic note is predominant too, leaving me to wonder if this bottle has perhaps been subject to temperature fluctuations during storage.

2005. Opened with a strongly aged nose and felt a little beyond it years on first approach but after a few hrs in the decanter it balanced out and showed us some velvet and silk. Thank you Mounir!

This was a wow moment for me. Although it was 40 degrees and windy, we were standing in the vineyard with the winemaker of this 08 Charm, and I loved it.
