Surprisingly dark color; light strawberry, herbs, and bouqet of white lillies on the nose; high acids, fine tannins and low alcohol on the palate with a fruit- and mineral-driven midpalate and finish. Might improve over a decade or a half; but quite awkward now.

Smell of wineCellars barnyard funk, some dried spices and berries in the back. Looks and tastes much fresher than last bottle. Perfectly mature and enjoyable.

Still small fresh red fruits but all covered in tertiary influences. Soft, delicate and not up to a piece of bbqd veal. ;-) Pleasurable wine nevertheless.

2016 was a difficult vintage in Santenay. Very earthy profile. Blackberry and Cranberry fruit. Violets and baking spices on the nose. Full and round but there is a bit of sharpness. Give this one time to open up.
