The 2020 Chianti Classico is such a classy wine. Deep and layered, yet wonderfully translucent, the 2020 is one of the best editions of this wine I can remember tasting. Macerated dark cherry, kirsch, cedar and pipe tobacco open first, but what I am most drawn to is the wine's textural resonance and sheer power. Popped and poured; no formal notes. Opened this to sip on while I made sauce for dinner and it hits the spot 👌🏽. The 2019 Isole e Olena CC is clean and expressive with dusty dark cherries, black tea, orange pith, dry earth. Good structure for a variety of meals. Bone dry. A long, slightly bitter finish. A textbook CC. Drink now or over the next 5-10 years.
