Wonderful evening at the City Club courtesy of Jeff’s hosting at the Friday group. Cellar guessing Jeff is a dangerous game as he’s the type who plans to throw curveballs! All wines served blind.

Ageless. Based on color, I immediately thought Napa but the palate had me second guessing. Some rose petal, spice and tart cherry. Cedar. This tastes so much younger than the ‘88 I opened a few months back. Wonderful wines.

Bordeaux love from Howell. Pencil lead and black cherries. Love me and leave me alone.

Wish more California cabernet drank like this - currant, candied blackberry, dark cherry, flint and tobacco. Was flashy but balanced.

Red, resinous currant with a licorice twist. Warm blackberry, dark toast, vanilla, cedar and sweet tabac seamlessly tailored, even at such a young age. Fresh gingerbread oven, too. Silk suit of tannins; loose stitching. Wound tightly showing sinewy potential and a Christmas cactus of sutured fruits bursting at the seams with liquid graphite and black currant reduction with fresh cassis and olive berry. Violets, treacle and black tea. Onyx train of a witch bride all the way down Howell mountain! #Dunn #DunnVineyards #napacab #napacabernet #Napa #howellmountain #howell #howellmtn #mountainwine #cabernetacademy #cabernetday #cabernetsauvignon #californiaclassic

Monthly guys group wine meet-up. No theme tonight aside from “it better be good”.

Bordeaux, bordeaux, Bordeaux. Dusted cocoa leaves, stewed blackberries. Hint of cranberries. Spices on the palate with fresh squeezed blackberries. Touch of leather on the finish with some pepper. Head strong through 2+hrs of being open. Napa royalty.

Another 4th Friday for the books. What a much needed time out of the house and to be with friends after this past week.

Randy Dunn is a genius and there’s really nothing else to say. I’ve been fortunate to have the ‘87 and ‘88 within a 6-week span and both are drinking absolutely wonderfully. Nice tannic structure still. Rhubarb spice, muddled blackberries, and herbal spice. The finish is still quite lengthy! Another reason why Howell Mtn is my favorite AVA out of Napa.

2003, this wine at times seems un-ageable. Super tight and complex at the same time. Old school at its best

Since my first two bottles I brought to dinner were crap I had to order something off the list . Painfully young but has the potential to be a great bottle .
