Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend

2017 vintage. Another spectacular Suduiraut. The 140 g/l residual sugar is balanced by the fresh acidity. Michael Broadbent used to say that Suduiraut always looks older than its age, but this bright golden colour shows no signs of age. Beautifully complex nose with pineapple and vanilla, flowers, beeswax, cinnamon and lemon confit. Opulent, rich and fresh at the same time, impressively layered and intense, with an extraordinarily long finish. A fabulous meditation wine that is amazingly affordable too. Abv. 14%.

2022 vintage. 100% Sémillon. What can I say. Intense, layered, powerful, yet incredibly elegant. A fabulous Suduiraut with extraordinary precision and purity. The 190g/l residual sugar is perfectly balanced by the acidity, it doesn't feel heavy at all. Incredible length. My score might turn out to be conservative... Kudos to Pierre Montégut and team!

Vintage 2001 | This is such a treat, honeyed nectar, which I poured at a farewell of my colleagues, and even people who drink wine in a irregular base like this.

Walnut, strong apricot kernel. Volatile acidity, bittersweet balance.

Full and rich in mouthfeel. Dates, honey, round and smooth.

Rollercoaster of orange, pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, clementine and clove. Sweet almond notes intertwine with honeysuckle, honey, bee pollen and mixed marmalade. Orange marmalade prevails on the palate with poached pear and nectarine, quince and beeswax. Excellent in all ways.

Gorgeous 2005 from 375ml. Ripe peach and apricot marmalade, custard, orange blossom.

Have had only a handful of first growth Sauternes in my lifetime,. This experience was remarkable. Soft butterscotch & mellow pineapple, and white flowers. A knife edge of acidity leading a dense yet lithe medium bodied mouthfeel with an aftertaste lingering forever. Tasted on own after a meal. The 15 yrs of age just deepens the layers of flavors. Wow.

Beautiful. Drink em up! Lovely golden color. Showing some honey and dry extract. A perfect end to a perfect evening (minus the $300 we lost at river rock casino)
