Deep Ruby red color with aromas of red and black fruits with oak and tobacco spice, blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc. On the palate flavors of black raspberry, currants and black cherry with licorice, toasty oak and tobacco. Fine lush tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak and earthy tobacco spice. Needs more time to develop!

2003 vintage. Cedar and cinnamon lead into coffee rye and toasted black sesame, baked blackberry and plums, baked black currant and elderberry. Tertiary leather and pipe tobacco, with a jammy cassis to licorice finality. Silky smooth palate exhibits dark berries and a touch of smoke and graphite swirling around charred oak and cinnamon.

Cherry compote, black currant and smoky mulberry; light leather and English tea notes. Lavender and cassis. Black currant dominates a palate rife with smoky blackberry and dark tobaccos, bakers chocolate and dark raisins. Decidedly rich and adumbral.

2000 vintage. Warm, brown bread, cherry-blackberries baked with dried black currants and nutmeg. Further aromas of porcini, portobellos, and cornflower. Smooth, with raisin and round tannins, prunes and dried cherry. Spiced judiciously with vanilla, cedar, and espresso.

2010 vintage. Classic Pauillac with ripe cassis, lead pencil, and cedar wood. Still very young, but a class act. Concentrated, profound, and impeccably balanced, with layers of black fruit, a serious structure of haute couture tannins and balancing acidity. Long, mineral finish. Impressive, but nowhere near its peak.

Classic lunch bags. Inky sour cherry and stony grippy fruit. Really straight down the line bordeaux. Classic.

2003. But not the stewed fruit one might expect. Should have had some years ago. But it’s held up. Nice cigar box and dark fruit.

Medium plus Ruby in colour - when swirled a tawny note shows. Dusty berry derived aromas - cassis/blackcurrant on the medium weight palate; cedar/cigar box with a touch of capsicum. A very good mature left bank Bordeaux from an excellent vintage. I had a bottle of this 3 years ago and received some commentary from other Delectable users that I was drinking this too early. It does have a longer life than I said 3 years ago but I am more than happy to drink it now. As LM Segal said about this wine on Delectable, “If you’ve got em drink em”. As always with Lynch Bages it deserves a higher rating than 5th Growth - but in summary not overly complex.
