Guessed Walla Walla Grenache blind. Beautiful Pinot with lots of purity. Fruit forward. Multiple blind tasters mentioned the “Italian nose” but palate was all new world. Biodynamic.

I have decided to open the 2016 Burn Cottage Moonlight Race Pinot Noir. This wine is from Central Otago, New Zealand

On the nose I am able to detect notes of cherry, strawberry, cranberry, spice, cinnamon, clove and forest floor.

On the palate there is good fruit of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, spice clove, french oak and earth.

This wine is medium bodied deliciously elegant silky mouthfeel medium to medium + acidity and medium fine tannins which give a medium to long spicy eqrthy sage finish. This definitely has a burgundian feel to it even though we are in New Zealand. The winemaker has gone to great lengths to make their wine in that Burgundy style. I hope everyone is well staying safe and healthy. Have a great week and we will see you on the other end. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Medium Ruby with aromas of red fruits, floral and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of raspberry, strawberry and currants with lavender and vanilla notes. Medium tannins with racy acidity, great mouthfeel on a medium finish. Drink now but a bit of bottle age will reward. Tasting Sample.

Reduced nose displaying damp earth and wild mushrooms. Great acidity and firm structure supporting ripe red fruits. Lovely spice character and silky, graceful mid palate. The brightness and aromatic power of this wine is very sensual and somewhat extroverted, but it remains light on its feet with just the right amount of weight. Great example of the region and an excellent value in New World Pinot Noir.

Ripe and spicy with beautiful texture. Oak shows strongly upon first opening but integrates nicely with time.

Serious Pinot. Damp forest and earthy aroma, blueberry, cedar, hint of oak. Dry, mid+ acidity and mid tannin. Closed and well structured. Excellent Bourgogne style. Took 1 hr at least to open. enjoyable now but better to wait more. ABV13.5^

Lots of depth and radiance -- a ripeness and richness I'd expect from the region, although I was expecting a more restrained style given the producer's approach.

Comes across a bit too ripe for my tastes, especially on the nose. Bordering on raisining cherry fruit. Lots of bright red fruit and chocolate. If that's your thing, you will like it. Very satiny mouthfeel which I really dig.
