Opened a few hours prior to service and enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 1996 Asili, Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with lovely notes of Morello cherry, red flowers, some tar, leather, a touch of truffle, dry gravelly earth and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. A great pairing with controfiletto di wagyu. Plenty of life left in this. Drink now through 2041.

Lots of bottle variation with this legendary bottle but this one was on point. Kept building with air wafting everything there is to love about Nebbiolo. Beautiful wine.

Color starting to turn slightly as this 8 year old wine is right in its ideal drinking period. Sage, rose, raspberry, they all meld nicely in the glass. Delicious now and for a few years but not immortal like some red labels.

This is dark and seductive. Brooding intense with purple grippy fruit. A gorgeously deep and profound center to this. Not showing as much but really exceptional balance and intensity. Side by side with the white label a more concentrated and elegant thing. Wow wine.

Getting better, thank god Dante Scaglione is back on the job. Best from here in years...but still a baby, make sure you keep your paws off of this for another 5-7 years.
