A great example of Refosco from its home in Friuli, Italy. The color is a deep red with a dark core. The color here is what's interesting as the acidity is off the charts in a good way. It's rare to come across a wine this deeply colored and high in acidity. The density of flavor is excellent, with clear and freshly snappy blackberry, raspberry, tart plum, violet florals and slight bitter note that adds a spice accent to the palate. Firm and ripe tannin add to the acidity forming a great structural base.

An insane value at about $20.

I’m guessing this is a #refosco maybe with some #merlot. does not have the bite of a #schioppettino but a fine table wine and I’d give it plenty of air and food. Red berries and barnyard and minerals complete the picture. — 4 years ago

Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso in assolo. Devo confessare che il Refosco è uno di quei Vini che non bevo spesso, anzi. 😔 Con questo Morus Nigra devo cambiare il trend perchè è un vino davvero ottimo.
