Wonderwall Central Coast Pinot Noir 2015

Delicious #centralcoastwine #pinotnoir #ednavalley #fieldrecording I was happily surprised by this wine, the label made me think it was going to be frivolous and more interesting on the outside than on the inside, boy was I wrong! It's a fantastic PN with a harmonious balance of youthful red fruits and refreshing acidity with a medium juicy body and perfectly ripe. — 3 years ago

Edna Valley Vineyard

Central Coast Merlot 2004

Picked this one up at a Bodega down the street. Was surprised that this was lingering in the aisle - this Bodega doesn't specialize in wine. The 2004 Edna Valley Merlot was the first vintage of this varietal. The grapes are grown on the north end of the Edna Valley AVA. The AVA, established in 1982, has a very long growing season and is characterized by black humus and clay-rich soils. ~$14 | #ednavalley #merlot

On the eyes:
Brownish Garnet, Opaque and Cloudy, with Med Stain, Med Tears. No Gas, Particulate Present.

On the nose:
Chocolately Cherry and Blackberry with a strong Oak aroma. There's Salt, a bit of Olive, and Resin.

On the tongue:
Med+ Acid, Med+ Alcohol, Med+ Tannin, Oak Spiciness, Tart Fruit - Cherry, Pomegranate. Soft tannins with Med Body and Good Finish. Let this Geezer breathe for an hour, however, this one is past it's prime.

Wonderwall Edna Valley Pinot Noir 2014

Very pleasant #EdnaValley #PinotNoir by the good people at #Wonderwall. Soft, velvety and smooth with light cherry notes. More importantly, a surprisingly good combination with our seafood and spic heavy Sunday brunch at #GastónAcurio's #LaMar in #SanFrancisco. — 4 years ago

Edna Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Tart cranberry, stemmy characteristics, almost like a very ripe vintage from Willamette Valley. Great for the price! #willamettewine #marmont #2012 #ednavalley #sommlife — 4 years ago

Sextant Wines

Estate Edna Valley Chardonnay 2012

A bottle left after a major tasting party we hosted, this Chardonnay hails from Edna Valley, CA. Established in 2004, the Sextant label is quickly growing into a regional mainstay though still dwarfed by Edna Valley vineyards. The Edna Valley appellation, a sub-app of the Central Coast AVA, is most well known for it's Chardonnay, where it's long hot growing season imparts the terroir of the region beautifully. These Chardonnays are meant to be drunk within 5 or so years - so enjoy them now! ~$20 | #sextant #chardonnay #ednavalley

On the eyes: Deep bright yellow, clear, med stain, med tears. No gas/floc.

On the nose: Fresh grass, floral notes, and green apple with a bit of butter and slate. Med alcohol.

On the tongue: Med acid, med-tannin, med alcohol, med body, buttery round mouthfeel. Green apples, unripe mango, and lychee with a faint touch of mineral and perfume on the way down. A bit sweet on the finish.
