And for my 300th delectable post, this delicious 1999 savennieres with homemade butternut squash spaetzle.
So rich and textured, very little oxidation, it’s almost perplexing how it could be so old. Mouthcoating... plenty of honeycomb and some green apple and seashell. Continuing to evolve. Perfect pairing so far. Cheers! — 4 months ago
WINE #300. MY LAST REVIEW ON DELECTABLE!
1997! A standout vintage for Brunello. Ciacci being one of my all time favorites. Quite opaque in the glass with a brown-brick rim. I'm at the 2 hour mark and it's still opening.
Lots of spice on the nose. White pepper, muddled aged cherries, fresh tobacco, and something in the Christmas tree family.
It's surprising how alive this wine tastes! Definitely cherry on the palate, acidity is now quite low, but tannins are still very firm. This baby isn't going anywhere!!! I have a couple of other '97s and now have no fear holding them a bit longer.
