Bollinger

La Grande Année Brut Champagne Blend 2012

Stellar. Golden apple, cinnamon dusted, toasted pie shell. One of the best vintage champagnes I've ever had I believe.

Fattoria La Valentina

Riserva Spelt Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2016

9.3

Outstanding - this has a long life ahead due to incredible concentration & density of flavors manifest in unbelievable complexity. Swirling this around over the course of a couple of hours was joyous. Very sturdy w/firm tannins - built for long haul. Paired beautifully w/my smoked baby backs & pork belly — 4 years ago

El Enemigo

Mendoza Chardonnay 2018

Nose - ripe tropical fruit, pear, pear blossoms, hint of (white? ) pepper, light oak aroma, slight dusty cedar
Palate - mouth feel is heavy but not buttery (so substantial tannins for a white) ; notes of ripe pear, red apples, raw papaya (like in a salad), lemon peel including the bitterness from the pith, some peach, hint of lychee, trace of spice, some chalk in the after taste

Over all... very well made Chardonnay... balanced and made for the long haul

Mollydooker Wines

Velvet Glove McLaren Vale Shiraz 2018

The 2018 Mollydooker ‘The Velvet Glove’ Shiraz is a utterly sensational bottling that rivals any wine of its kind. Aged in all new American oak, this shows a gorgeous bouquet from blueberry pie to espresso grounds, graphite and toasty oak tones that all impress. The palate is deep and utterly seamless. A massive core of blue and dark fruits collide with white pepper, minerals, firm tannins and a light dusting of salinity. While obviously big, this has a weightless quality and wonderful verve. Wonderful to enjoy now, this outstanding Shiraz will provide drinking enjoyment for at least another fifteen years. But why wait? Drink 2021-2038- 98 — 4 years ago

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Hedonistic in the extreme the wine is a marvelous blend of cassis, red and black fruits, plum, smoke smooth and velvety in the extreme. Was decanted for 90 minutes. Astoundingly still very approachable! — 4 years ago

Aperture

Soil Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Dark blue and black fruit. Somewhat grippy tannins. The Malbec smooths out any rough edges. Night #2 with parents. Nice bottle but will wait a while to open another. — 4 years ago
