Bodega Comando

La Bruja Avería Rozas de Puerto Real Grenache 2016

Sunday night and I have opened the 2016 Comando G La Bruja De Rozas Garnacha. 100% Garnacha from the Las Rozas de Puerto Real in the Sierra de Gredos near Madrid.

The nose has aromas of strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, licorice vanilla and earth.

The palate has wonderful red fruits of raspberry, cherry, strawberry, anise, cinnamon, a minerality and dusty earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth elegance, medium+ acidity and medium+ fine tannins that lead to a long fruit filled finish. For a village wine and the price this has blown me away. Have a great week ahead and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Croix de Bois Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2007

Hmmm...this Is the first 2007 CdP that I actually enjoyed so far. Dark fruit, licorice and relatively balanced compared to a couple of others that were hot messes. Paired with backyard Korean BBQ. — 5 years ago

Williams Selyem

Weir Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Lighter red hue. Tart cherries. Red fruit. Nice acidity. Opened sooner than I wanted but parents are in town and they always enjoy WS. Despite youthfulness, drinking really well. This will be amazing in a few years. — 5 years ago

A lovely selection of bubbles to pair with some very flavorful sushi rolls. Notes of orange rind, citrus zest, coastal minerals, and strawberries. Dry on the palate and easy to drink 🥂 — 5 years ago

Pretty, softening up nicely. More elegant and airy than I recalled it being. In a great place now — 5 years ago

Carneros Chardonnay 2014

In isolation, this is a good chard. Displays bright notes of honey and citrus fruits on the nose. The palate is well behaved with honeydew melon and pineapple. Quite spicy on the mid-palate with hints of nutmeg and other warm spices. However, in comparison to the single vineyard designations, it lacks authority and presence. Still a very good chard. Buying it from the winery appears to be the cheapest option at $65 per. — 5 years ago
