Underperformed. Chunky with some ginger viscosity but the acid felt lacking until just before we'd polished the bottle off. Maybe we rushed.

Always loved Jacquesson. Unfortunately they know how good this is and price accordingly.

Absolutely classic champagne. From a 2008 base. For less than £40, this is a stunner.

The oak, malo and oxidation at first give the nose a sweet cheesecake aroma, decadent but quite surprising. A powerful and consistent bead of bubbles. After an hour it came together with some air perfectly, morphing into the low dosage beauty that it is.
736 is a blend of 53% Chardonnay, 29% Pinot Noir and 18% Pinot Meunier.

Fun fact: Johann-Joseph Krug, the founder of Krug, left house Jacquesson in 1843 to found the great Champagne house Krug.

Great way to finish with a cheese plate. Lots of energy, nicely balanced.
