Yalumba

Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2018

This blend is fantastic. We also tried the straight Shiraz which was also really great but the added cab gives this the winning edge. — 4 years ago

Yalumba

The Octavius Barossa Old Vine Shiraz 2009

This wine has aged like a queen! Balanced, matured dark red fruit, spices intermingle to deliver an excellent wine. There is fresh fruit that is unexpected and velvety tannins that say enjoy!! I would say this wine is at its peak. Fruit is still there and tannins and acidity are well balanced. Enjoy!!! — 3 months ago

Yalumba

The Signature Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2006

Lots of mint on the nose (69% Cabernet Sauvignon; 31% Shiraz) together with blackberry. On the palate plenty of drive and power in this Cabernet Shiraz blend - layers of fruit, oak and spice. Rich and full bodied - the perfect accompaniment for a vintage Porterhouse steak - Waygu marbelling. Oak has integrated since the tasting 5 years ago. A pity that it takes 20 years for Yalumba’s Signature red to reach its peak but probably true. Interestingly the wine is matured for 22 months in American, French and Hungarian barrels coopered at Yalumba. This was the last bottle from a dozen originally purchased. — 4 months ago

@Somm David T I’m sure the Hill-Smiths would have been excellent hosts.

Paradox Barossa Shiraz 2015

I’m not across the different sub districts of the Barossa to be fully aware of the different micro climates but this Yalumba wine from the Northern Barossa was sufficiently different with aromas of liquorice blue fruits and tar. Spice black pepper and Soft tannins. Mouthfilling and delicious. Had my last bottle 119 weeks later on 20th March 2025 with consistent notes. Earthy with black fruits. Very good - 94 points. — 3 years ago
