Word Choice

Billecart-Salmon

Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

She is red-fruit forward, she has brioche touches and sea salt nuances on the nose. The palate is that sort of balance there isn’t a proper word for but gosh it’s there. Finishes slightly toasty with a zip of lemon and a squeeze of cranberry. — 5 months ago

Freemark Abbey

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Paired with a butchers select choice cut and a sexy, smart and holder of all my heart and soul beautiful woman. This wine is velvety and jammy on the front with low tannins on the back end. Blessed to be in the Chi with my love and embracing empty nesting. — 10 months ago

The Boxer Shiraz 2014

The word that comes to mind when drinking this wine is POWER! Big blueberry/blackberry/plum fruit with hints of chocolate, coffee and licorice. Mint and dried spices on the finish. Even though it’s a full bodied powerhouse (15.5% alcohol) it is still elegant and well structured. The tannins are amazingly soft and the wine has wonderful depth. Great effort! — 5 years ago

Bodegas Faustino

Gran Reserva Faustino I Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2012

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Strong nose with blue and red fruits.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and easy drinking.

Showing raspberries, blueberries, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, light oak, licorice, tobacco, herbs, light earth, dried tomatoes, chocolates and black pepper.

Medium plus in finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This Gran Reserva from Rioja is always a good choice. Showing nice complexity with a smooth mouthfeel.

Rich and elegant with good balance.

Drinks very young right now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

Needs an hour to open up, but good right out of the bottle too.

I've had many different vintages of this wine, and it always delivers. My favorite so far was the 2004.

14% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$30.

Opus One

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2012 Opus One is a terrific choice for drinking now. Silky and beautifully perfumed, the 2012 is wonderfully open-knit in this tasting. The purity of the fruit is alluring, There's still a good bit of freshness, too. Naturally, the 2012 reflects the medium-bodied style that is typical of the year, but all the elements are very nicely balanced. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, rose petal, spice and blood orange linger. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2024)
