Pale to mid Lemon in colour - some petillance on side of glass. Lovely white floral notes with a touch of jasmine. Palate is intense and quite expansive for a dry Riesling (13.5% ABV). I haven’t had many wines from Robert Weil but it has the quality you expect for the price. On the palate some stone fruit with plenty of mineral and a generosity of flavour. Much more fleshy and aromatic than you get with top quality Australian Rieslings. Possibly at its peak. — 10 days ago
Deep garnet color with a wide brim and dark purple undertones. Spice throughout, especially on the nose along with violets, dusty blackberries, and a good bit of oak. This isn’t trying to be French. At all. Proudly waving the Napa Valley flag, this is a big boy. As expected, higher alcohol than his Gallic cousins and fuller bodied. High acidity with smooth tannins and very tight at this stage, could probably do with a few more years in the bottle. Much less herbaceous than I expected but with some really beautiful red fruit on the palate. Plums, red cherries, and cassis is supplemented by plenty of oak, spice, and Newports. Some herbal notes come in to play on the medium long finish. This wine was more fun than I expected. — a day ago
This was one of the best 30+yr old Mondavi Reserves I’ve had. In good company with the other old Napa cabs on the table, and while it wasn’t showing as much fruit as the others may have, this was more complex and balanced. Definitely herbal (possibly oregano? Mark mentioned sage too and I agree), but it played nicely with the underripe black cherries, plum and dates. Wonderful acidity and structure. — 16 days ago

It benefits significantly from airing.
