Vintage 2017 | the Bulgarian domain of Stephan von Neipperg. 52 Merlot 26 Syrah 14 Petit Verdot 8 Cabernet Sauvignon | two hours decant | Sultry amarone cherries in smell, spicy taste, at first not so easy, but with food smooth | with a ovendish of pointed cabbage and minced meat — 2 years ago
Opened at Graf after TH and it’s a delicious red Burg of mushrooms and fall leaves and earth — 21 days ago
Dry, tart, not as sweet as most Rieslings, improved when allowed to breathe, paired well with teriyaki Salmon. — 4 months ago
Dark ruby with near black core. Abundant nose of cassis and black plum. Medium full palate yields black plum, tarry black cherry, and a hint of graphite. Fine (medium) tannins and juicy medium plus acidity. A nice step up from the "everyday" Bordeaux from the Comptes von Neipperg portfolio. Take it out or drink it in with beef stew, roast tenderloin, root vegetables, and other semi-rustic fare. Drink now through 2026. — 4 years ago
