Quite nice. For the price. Say it once. Say it thrice. I drank this as I a) tried to avoid eating everything in my kitchen for the what-day-of-quarantine-are-we? day and b) tried to learn to appreciate Fiona Apple. I want to like her so much more but I feel she’ll be like Mars Volta. It’ll be an “okay I’ll let that shuffle choice play” until one day it hits and I’M IN. Maybe.
Ahem.
So lots of citrus and vanilla. Maybe some fake oak things I didn’t like up front but given time and air I appreciated the weight against the punchy greens and acid. Much as I’ll appreciate the slow cords against Fiona’s spoken-word-esque lyrics someday maybe.
But in all truth yeah I like this wine. It coats the mouth and ballasts they soul and has a lot going on for the price. And takes a minute to appreciate but it’s good for an evening. — 6 years ago

N: Classic tar, roses, iron( blood). Woods and herbs. Delicious, deep nose.
Some cigar box/cedar too.
P: On it’s own, even after 2 hrs out, a tannic beastie. W some protein, cherries, roses, cocoa, juicy and bright.

1997 vintage. Plenty of time to decant and it opened to a very complex and balanced wine. Cherry, olive, green pepper, leather, hay, eucalyptus, earthy with nice minerality. Has an umami character. For me…a little funk of barnyard and brett make it muah! — 3 years ago
Si conferma come nelle bottiglie precedenti, una tendenza a cambiare molto da bottiglia a bottiglia, sempre stesse annate. Questa volta era leggermente sull’osssidato è un sentore leggero di tappo. Anche il colore era meno vivace e più spento, già sul granato aranciato. — 5 years ago

At the opposite end of the spectrum from the Cantina della Volta, but equally satisfying: darker and more effervescent, with more structure and black fruit notes. My new go to for charcuterie plates. love Lambrusco. — 7 years ago
