Such a masterful wine at almost 11 years of age. Nose is luscious and deep. Mint and red fruits and dramatic exotic spices. Terrific minerality. Limestone galore. Layered and perfumed. Knockout. Some charcoal as well. Palate is so juicy and energetic giving luscious red cherries that burst with intensity on the explosive finish. Then it cuts a swath of mineral and slowly dissipates. My 2nd bottle of the 2003 and wow this is a stunner. Warmer vintages in cooler wine regions is where it’s at. Glorious nose of mid season cherry, sour cherry and more! Smoke, tar, tobacco, cigar box. Unreal minerality and a distinctive earthiness. Just gorgeous. So expansive and detailed. Palate is so so juicy and fresh with unreal acidity that buffets the incomprehensible juicy cherry and meaty fruit. Getting Gevrey vibes here. Amazing purity and freshness and just super clean. Opulent with so much energy and depth. Really covers the inner mouth with so much sexy fruit. The sexiest one yet but still has the house style. I’ve never had a wine where a warm vintage has elevated it this much. Genius and stunning. Nose starts with some oolong tea now after air. Palate has mid season juicy cherries that are in such abundance. It’s so well made, so balanced and just off the charts pure with velvety and sweet tannins and just such insane fruit capture. — 3 months ago

Pfalz nose, peach, apricot, huge minerals, oeach fuzz, wow what a nose, so so aromatic. wow huge fruit and acidity but also round like elite riesling. So so deep, cuts a swath across the palate. There’s honey but more will come with age. Inner mouth confectionary, killer, so deep and such a long finish. Wow. Amazing acidity and so ultra long. Juicy and delineated. Needs air and I will be back. Unreal grip and tannin and so explosive. Just stunning. American GG in the house. Now after 9 hours the nose is more complex with wet stones and more pronounced peach and apricot. So juicy and energetic and huge citrus. — 3 months ago

Deep and ripe nose that is totally giving me Corton Charlemagne vibes. Ripe apple, melon, cantaloupe and pear. Gorgeous in its purity. Man this is like white burgundy mimicry. Gorgeous spicey notes and complex smokey tones and amazing mineral notes. Such an enveloping and evocative nose. Palate is so awesome. Rich and textured and so deep and this has those German iodine and hazelnut notes that make you think your in Corton Charlemagne. Ripe and unctuous and so forward and unreal marzipan notes on the mid and finish. Wow does this really hammer you on the finish and not let up. Remarkable elegance and large scaled but nimble. As this airs it gains remarkable aromatic complexity with pulverized stones and barely ripe tropical fruits. So complex. Rich yet tense is the biography of this wine. For me the current best wine in St. Joseph. Just a stunning stunning expression of St. Jo. Nose is insane. The most detailed olives ever. Just gorgeous. Also herbs de Provence and so much granitic intensity. Also dark flowers. Dark blueberry fruit and dark berry fruit. Just so deep, intense and utterly brilliant. I love this wine. Wow that palate. So so elegant and juicy and with achingly beautiful finesse. My god this is so delicate and I am sorry but this has more elegance than. Gonon. Just wow. The concentration is off the charts and my goodness the inner mouth olive flavors intermingled with wild mint are to die for. Unreal refined and classy tannins and is juicy, balanced and perfect. Wow. Can’t wait to see what air does. 9.8 for now. With some short term air the nose is just crazy. So complex and floral. So sleek and juicy and man those tannins are all class. So open and expressive. Unreal nose of hay, wild flowers, herbs and iodine a bit more closed than unique. So intense and bracing with wild flowers, minerals, iodine and green apple grip. ricola, wine version of ricola. Rich, yet grippy! — 5 months ago
