Good buy from Total Wine. Paired great with pasta / Sunday Sauce dinner. — 5 days ago
Quite shy at this stage, the single-vineyard 2019 Calvarino from Soave’s iconic producer Pieropan takes quite some coaxing from the glass, even having been decanted. It has reticent but enticing aromas of lemon juice, honey, some nuttiness and even a hint of star anise, while the palate is much more forthcoming. Lemons first, fresh, ripe and delicious; then, it caresses into peaches and melons, with tangy acidity but a very supple texture. The finish is quite long, and saline. Really a very pretty wine that I think will ultimately benefit from some mid-term ageing. — 2 months ago
Medium lemon colour . Quite discreet on the nose with white peach , lemon rind and white flowers . On the palate much more intensity and grip , white peach , ground white pepper , blanched almonds , fresh green herbs . Good acidity and length , lovely texture , with a mineral finish . This seems quite young , intense and promising. Now and over the next 7-10 years. — 6 hours ago
