Really interesting white blend made by devout Cistercian sisters at Monastero Trappiste. Its a deep golden color, showing the 1 week of skin contact. Almost an orange wine. Herby and floral, smells like an aged autumn garden. Chamomile, almonds, and citrus notes. Unsurprisingly savory but still refreshing. (Btw- Love the label.) — 4 months ago
Amazing. Bone dry, floral, citrus zest and a richness/texture that only skin contact allows. Perfect match for mushroom asparagus risotto. — a month ago
In a lovely spot right now, the single-vineyard 2019 Calvarino from Soave icon Pieropan is a gorgeous, pithy, inviting example of what the region has to offer. It benefits from time out of the fridge, when floral aromas of bitter orange, thyme, honey and lemon emerge. It strikes a beautiful balance on the palate between its bitter, acidic character and flecks of sweetness – like a great lemon tart, if that isn’t too crude. It might not be the most complex white wine out there, but it more than makes up for it in sheer drinking pleasure. Best enjoyed on a sunny day with a pasta al limone.
