Loimer

Langenlois Kamptal Riesling 2014

Pale golden hue. Honeysuckle, ripe white peach, guava, lavender honey, and slate notes; moderate acidity. Dry and aromatic Riesling from Austria 🇦🇹 that pairs well with this rice noodle salad, with a Mirin-based dressing, seasoned with peanuts, ginger, red pepper, green onion, and cilantro. Vintage 2014. ABV 11.5%. — 8 days ago

Schloss Gobelsburg

Gobelsburger Niederösterreich Zweigelt 2018

Inspirational Austrian wine! Wonderful notes of sour apples and citrus fruits, as well as a bit of umami to round out the mouth feel. All this in a package of a direly Austrian label (coincidently, you always know you’re in for a treat when a German/Austrian label is stereotypical. Look it up, it’s a thing). Not quite in the 9 stratosphere but certainly a bargain for the 16 bucks I paid. — 9 days ago

Frau Mayer Grüner Veltliner 2018

Light hay colored with little tinges of silver. On the nose you’ll get Granny Smith apples, pears, a little kiwi, and minerality. This is one of the best combinations of fun and elegance that I’ve found in a Grüner Veltliner. This 18 is so very young and it shows but it’s still mature enough to go. Very creamy on the mid palate with some round acidity. Air definitely improves things and on the second day it’s downright lush. Very dry, the round acid and texture really takes her to the next level. Honeydew, white pepper, and honey on the palate initially, with grapefruit and smoke coming to play. — 10 days ago

Trum Riesling 2015

Screw top. Tasted double-blind. Presented very transparent in the glass. Nose was bursting with character! Displaying citrus, underripe mango, kiwi fruit, white flowers, meringue, white pepper and benzine. On the palate it was a bit more simple with bubble gum (sort of a Tutti Frutti thing) but it’s wasn’t at all off putting. Really good acid. Nice and dry in the finish. I was sort of between two minds on this one and thought maybe Vouvray Sec from a good producer but I should she paid better attention to the benzine note that would have steered me towards my second choice with would have been Riesling. Lovely wine! — 15 days ago

Gumpoldskirchner Tradition White Blend

Initially, bubbly on the tongue, then settles into a mild fruity creaminess that finishes with a kick of acidity/dryness. A really nice drink! — 21 days ago

Weingut Bründlmayer

Alte Reben Grüner Veltliner 2015

Could likely use a few more years to come fully into balance, but this is nice. Deep and mouth filling. Tons of minerality. Just a hint of unintegrated oak. Good acid with a long finish. — 6 hours ago

Turning a bit golden, but will keep together for long time.
2009 in Wachau was a marvelous vintage.
Yellow peach, ginger, mineral mineral mineral.
Quite fleshy
Very long after taste
I really love the Loibenberg expression.

Hefeabzug Wachau Grüner Veltliner

Light lemon, papaya, mango essence.

Beautiful, swan like carbonation and balance.

This is just straight up class. Pears, lychee. Heavy on the mangoes.

Absolutely love this.
