1985 Lopez de Heredia Temperanillo. Lunch at Coq SF for A&S’ anniversary. Decanted for an hour before drinking. Excellent. Not too long a finish, but very soft and no hard end to the finish. Balanced and really delicious. — 21 days ago

1994 Artadi Grandes Anadas Rioja. Date night at Kokk in SF. No bueno. At first, absolutely zero nose- we thought it might open up, some could figure out what was going on. After an hour in the glass, we finally got the wet cardboard notes. Bad bottles. — 13 days ago
2004 Vega Sicilia Unico. Anniversary date night in SF at Bellota. Let it sit in the glass and decanter for an hour before drinking and it could use a few more hours. After an hour, it opened up a tiny bit. Inky, rich, tannic, but delicious. Dark fruit, asphalt, black pepper, lavender on the front. Balanced, but very young. — a month ago
Unreal. Soft mouthfeel, blueberries and floral notes are what immediately comes to mind. Structure of tannins and acidity are perfect and finish is incredible. Can’t wait to try again and again.

2007 Marques de Murroeta Castillo Ygay Rioja. Ordered off the list at Kokk in SF bc the bottle of ‘94 Artadi we brought was a bad bottle. Decanted this, but still just way too big. Stuck to the mouth; big, juicy red fruit flavor (plum jam). Infanticide. — 13 days ago
1999 Vina El Pison Rioja. Drank after the ‘85 Lopez de Heredia for A&S’ Anniversary lunch at Coq SF. Didn’t decant very long, but delicious. Much more fruit, tannin, and structure than the Heredia, since much younger. Delicious, but different. — 21 days ago
