Great showing at year 15. Still quite rich and powerful but shows nice integrations. Blackcurrant, cassis, green olive, leather, autumn leaves, cocoa, and nutmeg on the deep complex nose. Full body and silky smooth. Soft mellow tannins lead to long candied finish. — 3 months ago
medium ruby with quite wide terracotta rim . Quite light spice filled nose at first , allspice , clove , nutmeg with some liquorice and herbal , tobacco and red plum touches. On the palate a bit leaner than the 1993 , but light dried red fruits, sous bois , tobacco and herbal notes. Good length, really nice balance and intensity with fresh acidity and melted sweet tannins . This is still showing well and can last perhaps a further 5 years or so . Quite elegant and classic in style . — 5 months ago

A good, solid California Cab but what’s all the fuss about? I’m seeing ratings of 98, 99, even 100 from JS. Really? No way. This is a clear case of praise crossing over into hype. Granted, still a bit young and not at its peak but after five years in the bottle and an hour of decanting it needs to be more than just fine if it wants to justify stratospheric scores. This wine compares unfavorably to Ridge Monte Bello, Stags Leap Cask 23 and other peers. It lacked sophistication and poise—where’s the promised minerality, graphite, cedar shavings, oak, leather, blackcurrant, cherry, and complex balance of fine grained tannins, fruit, acid and alcohol? Where? We chose this wine for a birthday dinner at Lawry’s Prime Rib in Beverly Hills. Not a disaster but a disappointment given our high expectations (and the high price).

12/2024. Sits so well on the palate. Full flavor and not over powering with cherry. My favorite Pinot. Paired so well with my NYE dinner at Hall’s Chophouse.

I would say this bottle sold on release for either side of $25. At this point, stunning with Chateaubriand.
This is at its peak. Excellent integration & evolution. It’s in its stupid faze.
The nose ripe blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, baked dark cherries & strawberries, pomegranate. Baking spices-clove, cinnamon, nutmeg & vanillin, dry herbs-sage, thyme, anise to black licorice, bight red, blue, purple florals,
The palate is ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, both plums, plum, strawberries, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg, dark spice, dry twig, dark cola, black tea, anise to black licorice, crushed limestone, withering to dark, red flowers, perfect acidity, excellent tension, structure, balance and elegant finish that lasts two-minutes and lands on spice & earth.

2023 vintage. Slightly sweeter than remembered previous vintages yet still more than worthy. A fave OR winery and this particular wine (at least in SoCal) translates into their most affordable red. Medium/medium-heavy bod. 03.12.25. — 2 days ago
