The most serious Blaufränkisch I’ve tasted thus far. Pure spice character, licorice, minerality, intense small red berries- but with both a finesse and concentration that set it apart from even some of the best examples. Very expansive on the palate and just gets better and better with every minute out of the bottle. Bursting with youthful fruit and verve. Moric seems to have obtained perfect ripeness in the Neckenmarkt and Lutzmannaburg parcels for this 2012 cuvée that is a truly stunning expression of this most noble varietal. Built to cellar.

Shrubby and woodsy, with elderberry, licorice, mushrooms and violets on the nose. Very mineral and dark on the palate. Zinging acidity and grippy tannins give it that crunchy, low pH mouthfeel. Killer wine with years ahead of it. 🏞️🍄
