A full body, heavy blanc Hermitage, 66% Marsanne and 34% Roussanne. Yellow hay color, brilliant. Noticed nose of pear, strudel apple, even guave.
Thick palate, meaty in structure (for wine), very balanced. Missing the final kick of the minerality. Great experience. — 6 months ago
Tart, dried blackberry fruit leather, earthy breeze smell on the nose (I don’t know what that means either, but that’s the first words to come to mind). Blackberry bramble, silk, and pepper. Some iron, but it’s soften over the years. This is a Belgian Sheepdog wine. Dark, bold, elegant, eager to please any Syrah fan. I want to go for a long hike through the woods, picking wild blackberries with this dog. Then we go home and share leg of lamb, rub the dogs silky ears, and drink this (just me. Don’t give alcohol to dogs). — a year ago
Beautiful subtle aroma from Merlot makes it pretty. Its free spirit nose makes you feel what the wine is going to be about. Drinkable and fresh. Apparently missing weight but it doesn’t miss a bit all the way thru the tasting. The aftertaste is long and very, very pleasant after one minute. — 25 days ago
1994 vintage. Trick or treat. Decanted and tasted multiple times over two hours. Light-medium body. Fantastic, old-school BDX nose. Somewhat linear as someone else proffered but still plenty of life. At least another half-decade in this place. Was just missing a little fruit in the front/mid-palates. Cork was solid but juice tasted like a second bottle might have some variation on the positive side. May find out sooner rather than later. 10.31.23. — 7 months ago
Very nice and smooth 1985, carefully stored for a long time. The age has given it a unique smootnes, maybe close to best before date as the cork was on the last leg.
A special experience for sure. — 2 years ago
Black cherries stand out against earthy beet and blackberry. Graphite rings and smoke curls around bay and sage, acanthus and peppercorn. Green in spots and muted on the palate, this one is unfortunately young and missing something. Pepper and cedar overpower the fruits and the tannins are aggressive here, giving a stemmy impression. May develop over time but gangly and awkward here.

2019 vintage. Huge Chambord and kirschy aromas and flavors. Medium body. More acidity than tannins currently but that could flip in 5-7 years. Drinking closer to Russian River Valley Pinot Noir instead of CDP currently. On the “artsy” CDP side as it were right here right now. Definitely missing the late 80’s-early 90’s cigar/tobacco/smoke counter-argument from this particular producer, place and offering. 4.17.23. — a year ago
Good leg and length. Deep medium bodied, dark cherry and earthy aroma.
Surprisingly very good for a red blend. — 3 years ago

Very different St Joseph. Tons of brambly dark fruit. Nice acid and tension on the finish. But oddly lacking in tannin and structure. Savory and I appreciate the 13% abv but I think it’s missing a dimension given the price point. — 7 hours ago
