Santa Barbera Chardonnay is really becoming a favourite of mine. The Pinot from SB seems to get all the attention here in Sweden but the Chardonnay is outperforming the Pinot by a mile. Very bright and well balanced. Seashell, pear, honey, hezelnuts, jasmin, tiger balm. — 3 years ago
2011. Very interesting up or down reviews on this wine. Several mention funky notes, where I tasted none. Several noted high tannins, where maybe mine had mellowed. Body was a little thin and it did take over an hour to start opening up, but I paired it with some Indian takeout and it paired great! — 5 years ago

The rock is primal. Earth elemental with fresh cut. Hint of pineapple and triumphant tannins coat your tongue with flavor. Minerals like a mine shaft. — 6 years ago

2008 a good to very good vintage depending on the producer and region.
I’ve had the 2008 a few years ago. The bottle from my collection, better. This one is not in decline, just not as enjoyable. Still shows a fair amount of earthiness where the bottle from my collection did not. In fairness, I gave mine a good decant and this bottle had been open but not decanted.

Hazy straw. Wonderful nose of lemon rind m, straw, and menthol. Full bodied palate of verbena, pear, citrus, birch, and a host others in layer upon layer. Firm acidity from entry to the slight mineral flintiness on the finish. Rich seafood or poultry dishes will shine especially well. I’m having mine with scallops and my drinking partner with Parmesan encrusted chicken. Drink now through 2024. — 5 years ago
— 6 years ago

More character than I expected from a Vermentino. — 2 years ago
This is going down VERY easily. For the pricetag I would expect nothing less. It has such wonderful flavour, is robust and honestly, not a wine I want to share... It's all mine, nom 🙂 — 3 years ago
2021/4/9-10 with Yuko’s nori bento and delivery yakitori. I gave this a try because they had it at a local wine shop who use taste matches mine (generally a good strategy), and this was just what you’d hope for - light and juicy but characterful, with sneaky stuffing. I’d definitely buy it again. — 5 years ago
Though not the same as it was pre-COVID -19, a handful of us were able to gather (while keeping our distance) to celebrate being back together and opened some fun wines to share. Wine is always better with good company.
The ‘04 has always been a favorite of mine, but this is really close. Aromatically, it is decadent and seductive. Sweet and ripe red, blue and black fruits dipped in fondue chocolate, with graham cracker and espresso, but also a charcoal/graphite like mineral note. It is silky on the palate with waves of more chocolate dipped fruits, nutmeg, Mexican vanilla and dust all wrapped in a rich profile that is still elegant and balanced. Everybody seems to have glowing opinions of this, but mine was just a good wine and all the complexity in depth that I’m hearing about here I just didn’t get. A very good balance of strong flavors drank it across three days, dark pepper, and tobacco notes and ripe fruit and I will say without any overwhelming attendance. The structure was just incredible. Very good wine, maybe I’m just different than the other reviewers. — 2 months ago
