Archetipo Colli Tortonesi Terre di Libarna Timorasso 2021

My first Timorasso. At first a bit dainty & shy on the nose; crushed nectar pits, white flowers, some white peach & artichoke hearts. On palate very textured, like Huet Chenin, but in a parallel universe. Minerally & reserved, this feels like it could go decades more- which is my understanding it can. The aroma notes are echoed on palate, with additional quince & pale fig notes, with a very slight off dry character (overall quite dry). For about 26$ a steal— I guess it’s a hard sell, this Timarosso.. This can either run as a food wine or not, & it’s delicious. — 20 days ago

@Ceccherini Cristiano Cec, see my 2 notes on the Massa Timorasso - 2 vintages how he grubbed out his Cortese vines and planted Timorasso, essentially saving the latter and reviving the planting of the grape.

@Bob McDonald in that case agree on that, when the cortese is in the wrong area take it off, but when you mention the Docg Gavi i don't think there is point. Plus who knows if the timorasso might grow well there...perhaps it could be a good recommendation 😅😅.

Dei Principi di Spadafora

N Terre Siciliane Nero d'Avola 2020

This winery used to be quite commercial, but with the new generation coming on board they left everything behind.
They turned into a minimal intervention venture.
They inherited the fairly old vines, but the changed approach gives a completely different perspective.

This nero d'Avola is extremely out of the ordinary.
It's bright, crunchy, crisp, luminous, fresg, clean and, to my surprise for when i taste nero d'Avola, very elegant, very French like elegancy.
I think of Beaujolais or of some new style crunchy South Australian grenache.
This wine is fun to drink, not cerebral, i recommend you give it a go. If you don't like it, bring it to me.
Not expensive at all.

Terre Alte Rosazzo Bianco Colli Orientali del Friuli 2019

Created in 1981, Terre Alte is considered one of Italy's most prestigious white wines, blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon grapes, estate-grown at Rosazzo in the historic Terre Alte vineyards. Pale lemon yellow color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits and wonderful floral notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach and slight lemon citrus with honey floral notes and lively acidity. Smooth finish ending with fruit and sweet mineral notes. Very nice! — 2 months ago

Alberico Candia dei Colli Apuani Vermentino 2018

A well made version of vermentino.

Nose is aromatic lemon extract. Very fresh and clean. Very Italian. Some richness as it opens.

Palate is nicely mineral and balanced. Light gods lemon soda. Very sprightly on the palate. A hint of lemon pith. Richer as it opens. Great acidic balance.

Something in new wants to try this in 7 years for some reason.

Would be awesome with crudo.

It’s one of those wines that is an incredibly great version of what it’s supposed to be.
