Yes—exactly that kind of wine: timeless, composed, and quietly authoritative.
It smells so good on first pour. Damp pine forest floor and clean mountain air register immediately. Everything else unravels from there; but that initial pop-and-pour sniff is pure magic.
On the palate, blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, and dried herbs unfold with control, carried by freshness and finely etched tannins in a medium body.
So classic, so intellectual, and deeply mesmerizing. Drink now or age. — 12 days ago
Second time trying this from the 2015 vintage, first enjoyed five years ago. This was my Christmas Day wine, when it’s always hard to really appreciate or concentrate on a wine what with everything else going on! I ordinarily go for familiar favourites from the Rhône, or aged Bordeaux. Anyway, this Brunello was still super macho, austere and in need of either more time in bottle or some very rustic, Tuscan food. Or both! — 7 days ago
Aged to perfection. Last glass drinking well after being open nearly a week! — 13 days ago
Rich cocoa and dark red and purple fruits on the nose. Rich, full notes of raspberry jam, red currant, subtle licorice and tar, plum, and blueberry. Wolly and tannic, but silky. Medium-plus body. High alcohol. — 10 days ago
Very cherry driven almost over the top. Raspberry and a touch of crushed marble. Definitely a wine which will please. But it lacks the earthiness of the 2016. Super juicy. Low %. Overall this is a nice example of a CA Pinot - which just wants to please unfortunately to much ….and perhaps trying to be a burgh in the process - but this vintage ain’t it. — 5 days ago
Merry Christmas 2025! 🎅🎄🎁 🍷 ❄️ ⛄️
23 yrs since birth and 21 yrs in bottle and the evolution is beautiful. Perfect w/the ribroast.
Fruits still holding with excellent integration. Blackberries, black plum to pudding, strawberries, raspberries, black cherries, sandalwood, soft, dark spices with gentle heat, mocha powder, some milk chocolate, caramel notes, understated graphite, anise to some black licorice, gravel, dry stone, used tobacco & leather, mid berry cola presence, dry twig, moist clays, red, dark florals with a violet frame, excellent acidity, well; made, balanced, tensioned, structured with an elegant finish that lasts nearly two- minutes and falls of soft earthiness & soft spice. — 14 days ago
