Really impressed by this wine. Got at Mister Wright’s. — 6 years ago
Skinner # 2 as compared to the Mourvedre. My wife likes it more. I like it less. It may need to be decanted. I’m not sure as it is a 2020. It is definitely not as complex and definitely more sour on the finish. My wife says it’s buttery and she loves it the most. It is a bit buttery, but I don’t have a really outstanding bouquet, initial pallet nor finish in my mind, but I will enjoy this bottle just not as good as the Mourvedre. — 3 days ago
Lighter bodied red field blend. Drink with a slight chill on it. — 5 years ago
Bright, juicy, cloudy California Mourvèdre (100%) from the Dirty & Rowdy Family. Described as a “snapshot of California Mourvèdre”, the 2018 Familiar comes from vineyards in 5 different appellations: Antle Vineyard in Monterey county, Evangelho Vineyard in Contra Costa (120+ years old vines), Rosewood Vineyard in Mendocino (90+ years old vines), Shake Ridge Ranch in Amador county and Skinner Stoney Creek and Skinner White Oak Flats in El Dorado County. Strawberries, right amount of funk. Delicious — 5 years ago
Because when you place an order to go, order up a BTG wine you haven’t tried while you wait. Dish Sam the man some extra $ and roll on. This was tasty. Perfect transitional rosé. — 7 years ago
This is pretty interesting. Sierra foothills. Kind of spicy ripe Burgundian feel to it, might be just entering the downslope, but pretty enjoyable right now. Not super extracted. Earthy. Light to medium body. Tertiary. Some red fruits. Maybe a little wonky. Fire sale at K&L. $15 (was 60). // edit: I like this quite a bit better on day two from the fridge. — 7 months ago
We really wanted to love this, but alas, we think that around 2012 was when Caymus decided to focus on an à la carte presentation, which makes for quite a shallow encounter.
They have tapped into the logic of the Skinner box operant conditioning. We humanoids press a lever (in this case pull a cork), and a one-night-stand promptly arrives in our glass. Us peeps tend to follow the crowd (I present myself as exhibit A), but when you taste this, it makes a splash, but flatters to deceive.

This is the first mourvedre that I have absolutely loved. It is from Skinner Vineyards. : 2018 ElDorado Mourvedre. The nose opens this show with black licorice and lilac. Then comes the first taste - oh my goodness. Lots of dark fruit, boysenberry, blackberry, black cherry, and maybe even a little raspberry on the finish. Mid pallet brings in some nice velvet chocolate texture and flavors. Then there is the Oaky very dry pallet finish. I give this wine an amazing 9.6. I love this wine. I’m ordering more. I can’t wait to try their Syrah tomorrow as well as their petite sirah on Wednesday!!!!! — 4 days ago
