Super cool. First time trying Sierras de Málaga — 5 months ago
Medium garnet in color; dried strawberries, lavender, and smoke on the nose; high acidity; medium tannins; tastes like hibiscus, cherry jolly ranchers, crushed gravel, cloves, and a hint of eucalyptus with a long finish. I like it. Nellie says it's ok. I think I'm picking up a little Brettanomyces on the nose. Thankfully, it's not intense. — 10 months ago
Bringing back Malaga from the dead, Telmo Rodriguez does it again.
Stylistically this is halfway between Sauternes and Pantelleria - combining the waxy creamy botrytis character with the extravagant exotic notes of Passito di Pantelleria. Candid apricot, orange peel, a pinch of spice, overripe peach.
Unabashedly sweet & indulgent but beautifully balanced and nicely poised.
A killer desert wine and quite delicious. — a month ago
Yeah. Yeah. That’s the ticket. Floral. Aromatic. — 2 years ago
Wes really likes it. Unique flavor, tart, crisp. I didn’t love it — 3 months ago
The 2023 Selección Especial Nº2 Victoria was sourced from a 1920-planted vineyard in Vélez-Málaga, Alta Axarquía, in the Sierras de Málaga. This late-harvest wine was aged seven months on the lees and bottled with 190 grams of sugar. Yellow in hue, it presents herbal aromas with peach and apricot notes and a faint hint of nard. Sweet and balanced on the palate, it offers an intense mouthfeel with a long-lasting savory finish. This is a delicate, well-crafted wine. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, September 2024)

I asked the Somm to recommend a wine from Andalusia to pair with the region’s cuisines. Without hesitation, he picked out this bottle from a winery based in Ronda, a town I visited more than 10 years ago and have vivid memories of.
This is the flagship bottling of the winery with 100% Petit Verdot aged 12 months in clay amphorae.
It’s rich and savory just like to cuisine, and also has the lively acidity and aromatic intensity to counter those richness. What a great pairing! — 13 days ago
