Deep, rich berry nose accented by animal, feral notes. Not necessarily prototypical Zin characteristics. But really nice. On the palate, however, it’s more typical. Earthy, sandstoney blackberry fruit, really nice balance of richness, acids, and tannin. Very long finish. I love the Zins from this vineyard, but I think I heard somewhere this is the last vintage they’re making from here. 😥 — 4 months ago

Another extremely-limited release from Angelino Wines Co. (only 55 cases made). A rare and unique sparkling white made out of locally sourced 100% Albariño (Sierra pelona valley, CA) utilizing the Méthode Champenoise. Young and brilliant yellow hue, bright acidity, fine bubbles, sharp, refreshing and smooth and creamy flavors of yellow opal apple, grilled pineapple moderate long finish with a remarkable balance between fruityness and dryness. A great transition wine for the first day that really felt like Spring in New York! Tavel-like, the 2024 Shake Ridge rosé is full bodied with more red notes than floral or white and stood up well next to grilled chicken. Definitely a ‘table rosé’ more than a poolside sipper, but worthy of a great spring meal or maybe a Thanksgiving dinner. — 6 months ago

Aromas & Flavors
