Sicily Nero D'avola

NeroJbleo Nero d'Avola 2013

A more serious version of Sicily’s signature red, Nero d’Avola with some oak treatment. Richer with noticeable oak and some “work “. Quite dry tannins. Cannot see ageing benefiting this overly. The oak influence will impress naive palates so that may be Gulfis aim? — 4 days ago

Nero Sichilli Sicilia Nero d'Avola 2011

Terrific Nero D'Avola. Perfect balance of sweet and tart. Strawberries, red currants, tart cherries, coffee grinds, and a hint of baked sweet potato and nutmeg. Great viscosity: clean, refreshing, glides off the tongue. Medium bodied. Light tannins. — 17 days ago

Nerobaronj Sicilia Nero d'Avola 2011

Superb wine. They saved the best till last. 2 years in new French Oak; 70 year old vines. Calcareous soils. Brilliant medium weight Nero d’Avola from the warmer southern coastal area. Ripe and savoury at the same time. — 4 days ago

So much NdA is just soft and fruity and quaffable, but not so interesting. This, OTOH, has a depth and complexity that compels additional focus. Elevated acidy and no lack of tannin allow all the beautiful fruit and earth notes top find their own space within the structure. Best NdA I've had in ages. — 21 days ago

Cerasuolo di Vittoria Nero d'Avola-Frappato Blend 2015

Bright and tangy nose, took 20 mins for a carbonic thing to settle and then this was phenomenal. Pinot-like, with a strawberry ‘lift’ to it. Versatile, concentrated and yummy, went nicely with tuna and veal chop. @Delect Able I’m taking some time off till the bugs are fixed...this app just getting too frustrating to use. — 2 days ago

Also a tour thru the winery. One of the most spotless and Hi Tech I have seen. Some serious money invested here by Milanese businessmen.

Cantina Cellaro

Terre Siciliane Bacaro Nero D'Avola

Juicy. Blaccurants dominate on nose, with pleasant leather notes. Maybe too acid on finish, but it's not a very big thing. Smooth, but elegant tannic. — 11 days ago
