Darker than sarahs secrets. I don’t have secrets! Gary Olderman has them! — 4 years ago
Smoky, meaty, and minty, good but needs lamb. — a year ago
Delicious and honestly, for a 2012, it tasted like a new young white! The color was deep, almost amber, and the nose continued to evolve until the last moment, and the palate the same! Perfectly balanced with a medium body and a loooooong finish, I’m gonna try and track down another bottle just to give it more time to evolve and unlock its secrets. — 2 years ago
The color is garnet with a few signs of rust even at this young age. A touch of purple undertones and a wide rim. Everything about this screams Nebbiolo at you, starting with the nose. Customary dried cherries and old leather. Figs, heavy spice, and smoke. It gives you a whiff of dark chocolate just because it’s being nice.
Decanting is a must but after that it starts to reveal its secrets. The acid is there but comparatively mild and things are quite tannic. Not exactly austere but certainly leaning towards it, just like I like it. The palate follows the nose with the more pronounced earth and truffles. It takes a while to really open up and evolve. If you’re impatient you might only get to the good stuff at the very end. — 4 years ago
N:Big petrol and varnish nose, caramel, to•bac•oh! A drawer full of secrets this.
P. Unctuous going in, liquid caramel, tree bark, smoky barrel, the sea.
Marvelous stuff from one vineyard ( Marchanudo Alto) rich in chalk, sometime under flor, some static.
18° watch out.

An Italian grape in Mendocino! And made by a woman winemaker. Which mayhaps helps explain how this wine can have tough tannins all mellowed by a chocolate covered cherry. When you are a woman obscuring your toughness (so you aren’t labeled as a problem) with a friendly nature (so they think oh she’s sweet) is an acquired skill. One that does well by Dolcetto.
It is the bitterest of chocolate and the freshest and also dried-est of cherries. Omigod it is not sweet but it realllllly reminds me of dark chocolate covered cherries. And maybe someone infused that butter chocolate with a chili pepper because there is a zing to it. I will party with this wine all night and probably tell it my secrets before dawn. — 4 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Deep Ruby color with red berry fruit, herbs and floral aromas. On the palate flavors of ripe plum and blackberry fruit with licorice notes. Fine tannins, medium+ length ending with fruit and spicy herb notes. — a month ago
